Why is it good to know about the atonement?

Here I explain a bit about my decade-long Atonement Project in which I set myself the task of studying the heart of the Christian faith: the achievements of the death and resurrection of Christ, from three angles: what 2000 years' worth of theology has said, what 2000 years' worth of Christian devotion has given us and, finally, what the New Testament itself says. This was quite an ambitious project and I am still pondering what I found.
